Creative Pieces
They said I should write for others.
They said I had to have reader takeaways.
Listicles, how-to’s, and what I learned from stories.
I wish I could say this was all wrong information.
It isn’t, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. I have written those pieces. I still write those pieces. I like to think I don’t write them in the same way that everything else seems to be recycled info though.
There’s a middle ground. A meld of personal essay and reader takeaway. Perhaps this is what the platform meant when they said more relational.
Either way, creative writing belongs to me. It’s part of who I am. I’ve tried to suffocate it out in years past. Still, it would come out at random in the caption of an Instagram post.
That’s the thing about having creative tics. They don’t go away.
This piece is here to be the feature page for creative pieces. is an inventory Sans the ones that live over at Found In My Journal, my very first publication love on Medium (btw, we’re always looking for more writers over there. Hit us up!)
